June 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is Thursday, June 12.

We will meet at a private home in Afton, not at the Afton Historical Museum.

Our meetings are casual and give us a chance both to connect with neighbors and to take action on local or national issues.

Sign up by clicking on the link below and we will send you information about the location.

Leadership updates

As of June 1, we’ve transitioned to a new leadership structure. Val Stoehr is stepping down from leadership and Alison Miller — who recently returned from a three-day conference in Washington, D.C., of Indivisible activists from around the country! — will lead our group.

Note from Alison

My name is Alison Miller and I am thrilled to be joining the Afton Indivisible leadership team.  I am a stay-at-home parent and a graduate student at Hamline University and live in Afton with my husband, Carl, and our two kids, Clare (4) and Conor (2). I attended Indivisi-Fest, a political action summit sponsored by Indivisible, in Washington, D.C., last weekend and am excited to share more about it on Thursday. I am grateful to have met leaders from across our state and country and participate in leadership development that I can bring back to our group. I look forward to getting to know our community more and hope to see you on Thursday!

— Sincerely,
Alison

Trump Deployed the National Guard. But What Does That Mean?

Jay Kuo

"I want to address what has and importantly has not happened with respect to this deployment. As we look ahead, we need to keep straight what powers and authority Trump has invoked and which he is holding in his pocket. This will help us be clear-eyed about the most probable risks, and it will better inform what our next steps in response should be."
