Demand “no” on HF 12, which bans trans kids from sports
- Call House Rep. Wayne Johnson at 651-296-4244 to demand NO on HF 12.
On Wednesday, 2/19, the Minnesota House held a committee hearing on HF 12, a bill that would ban trans youth from full participation in sports.
Banning trans kiddos from sports has never been about MAGA wanting to support women in athletics. This is about MAGA’s ongoing misogyny and racism and transphobia. It’s a cruel attempt at trans erasure.
Speaking of which…those cruel people of the Trump administration removed the “T” from the Stonewall National Monument webpage, which commemorates the site that is so important to the history of LGBTQ+ liberation in the US. As reported in Out.com, this move follows a continued push from Trump’s administration to recognize only one of two genders, male or female, that a person was assigned at birth. The Out.com article says the New York Times reports that the “Q+” was also subsequently removed from the Stonewall National Monument webpage after an initial deletion of only the “T” from the acronym. The word “queer” was also scrubbed.
The queer community and allies are pissed and protesting, and there are lawsuits on many fronts, some of which have at least temporarily blocked Trump with some of his transphobic actions.
We can take care of business in our own back yard by demanding that Rep. Wayne Johnson truly represent us by denouncing HF 12. Make him feel the heat.
- Call Johnson at 651-296-4244 to demand that his party back off from their attacks on trans people.
- Tell him to vote no on HF 12, which bans trans kids from sports.

Thank Attorney General Keith Ellison
On February 7 Attorney General Ellison’s office sued to block Trump’s order to cut federal funding for gender-affirming care. This is an excerpt from the report in the Minnesota Star Tribune:
Minnesota along with two other states sued Friday to block an executive order by President Trump that cuts federal funding to organizations providing gender-affirming care to children and teens.
State Attorney General Keith Ellison called Trump’s order unconstitutional but also “mean-spirited and deeply hurtful” because it would discourage people younger than 19 from receiving treatments that help their bodies align with their identified genders.
“I will not stand by and let Donald Trump weaponize the federal government against young people just trying to be themselves and against doctors providing the best care they can to their patients,” Ellison said in a statement.
Effective organizing is about thanking our representatives when they do what we want, and making them feel the heat when they don’t. It’s time to thank Ellison!
Call Attorney General Ellison’s office at 651-296-3353 to thank him for standing up for the rights of all Minnesota citizens to receive healthcare and pushing back against the dangers of the Trump administration.
Tell Klobuchar she is not listening to us!
In early February, metro-area Indivisible groups held a 1,000-person call with Senators Smith and Klobuchar to demand they should not vote yes for ANY of Trump’s cabinet picks. These people are dangerous and will not be looking out for our best interests.
Well, Senator Klobuchar voted YES for Brooke Rollins for Secretary of Agriculture. Thankfully Senator Smith held her ground and voted NO.
But with help from 19 Democrats, the vote to confirm Rollins passed easily.
Call Klobuchar and tell her how disappointed you are in her decision to play nice with Trump’s dangerous agenda.
- Klobuchar’s DC Office: 202-224-3244
- Klobuchar’s Minneapolis Office: 612-727-5220
We need to burn up the phone lines until she gets the message.
Work on the upcoming WI Supreme Court election
The upcoming April 1st Wisconsin Supreme Court election is a BIG DEAL RACE that will determine ideological control of that court. The difference between the candidates is stark. The outcome could ultimately affect the makeup of US Congress because this court will make rulings about Wisconsin’s extremely gerrymandered maps.
- Callers and door-knockers are needed to raise awareness about the election and promote the candidacy of Judge Susan Crawford for Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Pay attention to Indivisible Twin Cities
Indivisible Twin Cities is a powerful Indivisible chapter just to our west. They maintain a good list of calls and other actions to take. Typically these are actions that amplify efforts of many Indivisible groups, or statewide issues where our voices can be especially effective.
Tap into calls with Indivisible’s national organization
The list of calls and trainings on the national Indivisible website has a lot of great opportunities. In particular:
- Sign up for the weekly informal “What’s the plan?” chats with Indivisible’s co-founders Leah and Ezra at 2 pm CT on Thursday afternoons.
- Indivisible’s Truth Brigade is also an amazing force for fighting misinformation on social media. You can sign up for their trainings and calls to learn more about how to engage with them.
